More than 3,000 Ipoh City Council (MBI) staff and Ipoh city folks participated in the MBI Level Gotong-Royong Programme held simultaneously at 5 locations, namely Sultan Abdul Aziz Recreational Park, Taman Merdeka, Taman Impiana Adril, Taman Saikat and Ashby Flats in conjunction with the National Month Celebrations 2019 on Friday, 23 August 2019.

The programme which was also attended by the Perak State Secretary included various cleaning-up activities such as clearing illegal rubbish dumping sites, taking down moneylending posters, painting road shoulders and dividers, pruning trees, clearing scupper holes and five foot ways as well as the surrounding  areas.

From 1 January 2019 to 10 August 2019, a total of 8,011 tons of waste were cleared from 1,672 illegal rubbish dumping sites. MBI has organised gotong-royong at 107 locations and put up signboards “Dilarang Membuang Sampah” (Do Not Throw Rubbish) around Ipoh city. MBI had also issued 747 compound notices amounting to RM654,850 involving illegal dumping of rubbish offences during the period.

The responsibility of taking care of Ipoh city’s cleanliness is a shared responsibility between the MBI staff and Ipoh city folks in ensuring that Ipoh City is always clean.

Hopefully, the close cooperation between MBI and Ipoh city folks will assist MBI in maintaining Ipoh as one of the cleanest cities in Malaysia.
