BASIC HANDMADE CROCHET COURSE HELPS B40 GROUP GENERATE INCOME
IPOH, 12 JULY 2025 – The B40 group, single mothers, young housewives and Persons With Disabilities (OKU) were given the opportunity to acquire new skills through the Basic Handmade Crochet Course organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) Community Services Department, held at the Lecture Hall of the MBI Old Office here today.
The one-day course was conducted by Fauziah Suhaimi, a handicrafts enthusiast with over 30 years of experience who actively participates in exhibitions and sales at various locations, including Lorong Seni@LorongPanglima in Ipoh, government and private agencies, and schools.
This programme is among MBI's initiatives to empower communities through skill-based income generation. In addition to crochet, the Community Services Department also organises other skills courses, such as hairdressing, makeup and residential air-conditioner maintenance.
Such courses can open up opportunities for participants to start small home-based businesses, thereby helping to increase household income.
MBI will continue to be committed in organising more community development programmes that are inclusive and sustainable in the future.
