CLOSING CEREMONY OF 9A-SIDE FOOTBALL CARNIVAL 2025

IPOH, 11 OCTOBER 2025 – Ipoh City Council (MBI), in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK), successfully organised the 9A-Side Football Carnival 2025, now in its 11th edition, held at Padang Ipoh, Taman DR Seenivasagam and Padang Sultan Abdul Jalil.

The closing ceremony of the tournament was officiated by MBI Councillor cum Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee Chairman Toh Amar Pahlawan Dato’ Ahmad Hariri Kamarudin, representing Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah.

Also present were MBI Councillors, City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak, and KLK representatives – Mohammad Shamsul Nizam Shahrom, Head of Infrastructure Department and Lawrence Parthasarathy, Head KLK OSH Department.

The organisation of this ongoing community sports programme has received enthusiastic response from veteran football teams not only from around Ipoh, but also from other states. This programme is not merely a football competition, but also serves as a platform to strengthen friendships, sportsmanship and community unity, especially among veteran players who remain active and competitive on the field.

The tournament also aligns with MBI's aspiration to make Ipoh a Smart and Prosperous City, emphasising a healthy lifestyle, social well-being and urban community harmony.

This tournament saw the participation of 13 teams from various areas, including five teams from Ipoh, as well as teams from Tapah, Sri Iskandar, Taiping, Batu Gajah, Penang (three teams) and Negeri Sembilan.

The sportsmanship shown throughout the tournament proves that age is no barrier to staying fit and competitive. The positive values displayed by the veteran players should serve as an inspiration to the younger generation in cultivating an active and disciplined lifestyle.

Winning or losing is not the main measure, rather, the spirit of cooperation, team loyalty and togetherness fostered through sports is the real achievement that should be celebrated.

The organisers extend their highest appreciation and congratulations to all secretariat members, sponsors, strategic partners and participants who have made this tournament a success. It is hoped that the 9A-Side Football Carnival will continue to be an annual event eagerly awaited by the community and football fans in Ipoh City.
