COURTESY VISIT BY NATIONAL HOUSING DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR-GENERAL TO THE IPOH MAYOR’S OFFICE

IPOH, 12 FEBRUARY 2026 – Dr. Tan Awang Besar, National Housing Department (JPN) Director-General, Ministry of Housing and Local Government, led a delegation from the National Housing Department on a courtesy visit and discussion session with the Mayor of Ipoh at the Ipoh City Council (MBI) Building today.

The visit aimed to strengthen strategic cooperation between the National Housing Department and Ipoh City Council, particularly in the aspects of sustainable housing development and methods and proposals to resolve the issues of abandoned private housing in the MBI administrative area.

During the discussion, both parties exchanged views on current issues related to housing development, including policy coordination, monitoring of abandoned projects and efforts to accelerate service delivery to the public.

In his speech, Dr. Tan Awang Besar stressed on the commitment of the National Housing Department to continue working closely with local authorities to ensure that the national housing agenda can be implemented effectively and provides direct benefits to the residents of Ipoh City.

Meanwhile, Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah, welcomed the visit and expressed MBI’s readiness to continue strengthening collaboration with the Housing and Local Government Ministry in planning and implementing inclusive and quality housing projects, as well as assisting the National Housing Department in all aspects to meet the needs of the community.

This courtesy visit reflects the continued commitment of both parties in empowering the development of sustainable, prosperous and liveable housing for the well-being of the people.
