COURTESY VISIT BY SK RAPAT SETIA HEADMISTRESS ON MAYOR OF IPOH

IPOH, 18 JULY 2025 – Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah today received a courtesy visit from Sekolah Kebangsaan Rapat Setia Headmistress Nor Hizan Abd. Jalil and the school delegation at the Mayor's Office, Ipoh City Council.

The visit aimed to introduce the school science innovation project called ‘MycoWrap’, an initiative to process waste from split gill mushrooms (Schizophyllum commune) into eco-friendly food packaging. This innovation is the result of collaboration between educators, SK Rapat Setia students, and the local community, who also support the aspiration of environmental sustainability and the 3R practices (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).

‘MycoWrap’ has successfully won the state level innovation competition and is now ready to step onto the stage of the National Innovation Competition 2025 to be held in August at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK).

The Ipoh Mayor expressed his highest appreciation for the school’s commitment and noble efforts in empowering sustainability-based education. He also extended his full support and prayed for the success of the SK Rapat Setia contingent at the national level, thus bringing glory to Ipoh city via this innovative educational achievement.
