A total of five (5) staff are selected each month based on their work performance within their respective service zones. The selection criteria include:

  1. a) Never been subject to disciplinary action;
  2. b) Have good work attendance with no sick leave or annual leave (preference given);
  3. c) Not being late for duty; and
  4. d) Performing duties with full responsibility and high discipline.

The final selection is based on the decision of the departmental panel.

Each Reward recipient received a Certificate of Excellence, cash of RM100 (credited into their respective accounts), and their name and photo displayed at strategic locations such as offices and public focal areas.

This initiative was the brainchild of the Ipoh Mayor himself as a gesture of appreciation and recognition for MBI field staff who demonstrate excellent work performance. The programme aims to foster a strong work ethic, boost motivation and strengthen a culture of excellence among field staff.

This effort is also in line with MBI’s commitment to ensure that Ipoh City remains clean, beautiful and prosperous through efficient and effective public service delivery.

The Public Health and Municipal Services Department is the main department responsible for implementing and monitoring solid waste management and public cleaning works, which are among the core services of MBI.

The Solid Waste Management Unit carries out garbage collection at public markets, hawker centres, food courts and rural domestic waste collection in rural areas (PPSD). Meanwhile, the Public Cleaning Unit is responsible for street sweeping, garden and bulk waste management, clearing of illegally dumped waste and maintenance of cleanliness in public areas and MBI facilities.

The Ipoh City Council hopes that the implementation of the Monthly Reward to Field Staff for Excellent Achievement will be a catalyst for improving work performance, creating healthy competition among staff, and further strengthening the efficiency of public service delivery for the well-being of Ipoh residents.
