IPOH, 25 SEPTEMBER 2025 (THURSDAY) – Ipoh City Council (MBI) has introduced an initiative to reward field staff who demonstrate excellent performance in their monthly duties. This step is an effort by MBI to appreciate the contributions of field staff as well as acknowledging the high quality of service in ensuring the cleanliness and well-being of Ipoh city.
Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah introduced the implementation of this initiative with the aim of motivating and boosting the work spirit of field staff who are the backbone of MBI’s core services.
The Public Health and Municipal Services Department is responsible for implementing Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning works. The Solid Waste Management Unit carries out garbage collection at MBI-owned public markets, hawker centres, food courts and rural domestic waste collection (PPSD). Meanwhile, the Public Cleaning Unit handles street sweeping, garden and bulk waste services, clearing of illegally dumped waste and cleaning of public market areas, food courts and hawker centres.
To ensure transparent recognition, the selection of reward recipients is made only among staff in the job grades of General Service Assistant, Vehicle Driver and Forman. A total of Five (5) staff are selected each month from designated zones.
Among the selection criteria are public service staff in Grade H1 who have never been subjected to disciplinary action, have a good attendance record without sick leave or annual leave in the relevant month, not being late for work, perform their duties excellently and pass the departmental panel evaluation.
The reward includes a Certificate of Excellence, cash of RM100 credited directly into the recipient's bank account, and their names and photos being displayed at strategic locations in the MBI office or frequently visited public areas.
