GOING DOWN TO THE GROUND (TURPA) PROGRAMME BY CITY SECRETARY WITH PERAK PUBLIC COMPLAINTS BUREAU DIRECTOR AT TAMAN KAYA, IPOH
IPOH, 10 JULY 2025 – Ipoh City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak together with Perak Public Complaints Bureau Director Mohd Hizaz Mohd Ibrahim went down to the ground to Taman Kaya, Ipoh this afternoon to assess issues related to the implementation of a gated and guarded community scheme operating without the approval from the authorities.
Also present during the visit were Ipoh City Councillor Clr. Lam Yew Tact; representatives from the Perak Public Complaints Bureau, the Perak State Secretariat Local Government Division and Taman Kaya Residents Association; and Ipoh City Council department directors.
The on-site inspection results revealed that the security scheme implemented at Taman Kaya had never obtained any official approval from the Council. In fact, this issue had previously been litigated in court, involving the residents as complainants and the residents association as respondent.
The engagement session was held to get a more comprehensive picture of the complaints received and to explore the most suitable resolution approaches.
This TURPA programme clearly reflects the Ipoh City Council’s commitment in addressing community issues directly at the grassroots level. It also demonstrates the local authority’s dedication to engaging with the community, strengthening mutual understanding and formulating inclusive and phased solutions.
Hopefully, this issue can be resolved amicably to ensure the safety, harmony and sustainability of the residents' lives, in line with the aspiration to make Ipoh a prosperous, progressive and sustainable city.
