IPOH CITY COUNCIL DELEGATION PARTICIPATES IN 12TH TPO GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM

HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM, 5 SEPTEMBER 2025 – The Ipoh City Council (MBI) delegation, led by City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak, attended the 12th TPO General Assembly held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 3 to 5 September 2025.

Accompanying the delegation were Clr. Basri Mohamad Nor, Clr. Lawrence a/l R. Palanisamy, Abdul Halim Saad (UTC Perak General Manager) and Jamunarani a/p S. Nadarajah (Deputy Director, Department of Community and Social Services).

Throughout the assembly, various series of meetings and discussions were held with TPO city members, including:

1. 45th Executive Meeting on 3 September 2025;
2. Leaders' Conference on 4 September 2025;
3. Bilateral Meetings with the cities of Busan, Gimhae and Taichung on 5 September 2025;
4. Plenary Session on 5 September 2025; and
5. TPO Best Awards Presentation Ceremony on 5 September 2025.

The Ipoh City Council also recorded a proud achievement by receiving two recognitions at the TPO Best Awards, namely:

1. a) Excellence: Sustainable Tourism Award, received by City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak,
2. b) Leadership Tourism Award, given to Jamunarani a/p S. Nadarajah in recognition of her role in promoting the tourism sector in Ipoh City.

The prestigious awards were presented by Madam Kang Da-Eun, Secretary-General of the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Global Cities (TPO).
