IPOH LOW CARBON DAY NOVEMBER 2024
24h November 2024 - YB Teh Kok Lim, Chairman of the Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee and Geopark of the State of Perak attended the 75th Ipoh Low Carbon Day (ILCD) Program this morning. It was also attended by Tuan Haji Ahmad Munir bim Ishak, City Secretary, Council Members and Head of MBI Department.
The main event of the program was the Launch of the World Low Carbon Day at the Perak State Level and the Visit Perak Fun Run 2024 Vol.3 running event.
World Low Carbon Day which falls on 21 September has been celebrated all over the world and is now being implemented at the Perak state level with programs organized by MBI in the monthly Ipoh Low Carbon Day Program.
It is a global initiative to increase public awareness of the importance of reducing carbon emissions and their impact on climate change.
The State of Perak also set a goal to become a low-carbon state in an effort to curb the phenomenon of climate change.
The government is confident that the desire for Malaysia to become a zero greenhouse gas emission country by 2050 can be realized. Mitigation and adaptation measures can reduce the impact of climate change and global warming and should be given due attention.
The Perak State Geopark also collaborated by continuing the Vol. 3 running event after completing Vol 1 and 2 in several previous programs. The Visit Perak 2024 Fun Run Vol.3 event with 400 participants as far as 5KM was enlivened with lucky draw prizes.
The presence of nearly 60 participants in the tent has provided support and their respective roles with various activities and advisory services. The Donut Economy Unit tent with a simple quiz activity based on Donut Economis related questions also provided lucky draw prizes. The concept of this donut economic city is to ensure balanced development in meeting economic needs and at the same time being within the limits of environmental capacity in making Ipoh a sustainable, inclusive and resilient city. This program is flagship-15 in the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan.
