TPO SECRETARY-GENERAL’S COURTESY VISIT ON MAYOR OF IPOH STRENGTHENS INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

IPOH, 28 JULY 2025 – Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah today received a courtesy visit from Kang Da-Eun, Secretary-General of the Tourism Promotion Organisation (TPO) for Global Cities, at the Ipoh City Council (MBI) Building.

The visit served as an important diplomatic platform to strengthen international relations, particularly in the field of tourism between Ipoh City and the global city network under the auspices of TPO.

Also present at the meeting were MBI Councillor Clr. Mohd Helmi Mohamed Fuzi and MBI City Community Director Romzi Zamri.

During the session, various topics were discussed, including Ipoh’s potential as a sustainable tourism destination, cultural exchange programmes, and smart tourism initiatives that can be developed via TPO’s collaborative network.

In his speech, the Ipoh Mayor warmly welcomed Madam Kang's visit and expressed MBI's commitment to continue playing an active role in regional and international platforms to promote Ipoh as a city with a heritage identity, livable and sustainable.

Meanwhile, Madam Kang expressed her appreciation for MBI’s gracious hospitality and affirmed TPO's openness to supporting tourism promotion and development efforts in Ipoh through various programmes and collaborations.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of souvenirs session and an official photography session as a token of appreciation and remembrance of the bilateral friendship between Ipoh City and the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Global Cities.

Thus, this visit became a starting point for stronger cooperation in realising Ipoh's aspiration as a world-class tourism city.
