VISIT OF TAWAU MUNICIPAL COUNCIL DELEGATION TO IPOH CITY COUNCIL STRENGTHENS STRATEGIC RELATIONS BETWEEN LOCAL AUTHORITIES
IPOH, 11 SEPTEMBER 2025 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) today received a courtesy call from the Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) delegation during an official visit that took place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
The 30-member delegation was led by MPT Information Technology Officer Ali Mohamad Samad, along with 17 MPT Councillors, and was warmly welcomed by MBI Councillor Clr. Lawrence a/l R. Palanisamy. The visit aimed to establish strategic relationships and share knowledge and experiences, particularly regarding the implementation of Smart City Management and Solid Waste Management.
The visit began with a briefing at the Ipoh Integrated Operation Centre (IIOC) by MBI Urban Planning Assistant Director Abdul Afiq Muhammad, who shared MBI's long-term plans to strengthen Smart City Management and the conceptual approach used in developing a more systematic and conducive work ecosystem. The IIOC is a smart operation control centre and is one of the key hubs for urban management in Ipoh.
Meanwhile, a visit to the Solid Waste Disposal Centre was held and a briefing was given by Public Works Senior Assistant Director (Projects and Maintenance) Nur Aifa Farihah Mad No.
MBI greatly appreciates such visits, which are an important platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge transfer and sharing best practices among Local Authorities (PBT). This initiative is believed to have a positive impact on the continuous efforts to improve the quality of service delivery and strengthen cooperation between agencies for the well-being of the people.
The event concluded with a photo session and exchange of souvenirs between both parties, symbolising the close and continuous cooperative relationship.
