56 TEAMS PARTICIPATE IN DATUK BANDAR CUP IPOH FOOTBALL FESTIVAL 2025
IPOH, 28 SEPTEMBER 2025 – A total of 56 football teams from across Malaysia, including Indonesia, participated in the Datuk Bandar Cup Ipoh Football Festival 2025, which was held over two days starting 27 September.
Of the total, 32 teams competed in the under-12 category, while 24 teams competed in the under-16 category.
The tournament was organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) in collaboration with the Ipoh City Hall Sports Club (KSDBI), and was held at two main venues – Perak Rugby Stadium and Padang Ipoh.
Three categories were contested: Cup, Plate and Bowl.
This tournament not only served as a platform to hone young football talents, but also strengthened the spirit of sportsmanship and cooperation among sports communities from various states and neighbouring countries.
The winners in each category will receive the following prizes:
Cup Category
Champion: RM3,000 + Trophy + Medal
Runner-up: RM1,500 + Medal
Joint Third: RM500 + Medal
5th to 8th Place: RM150 + Medal
Plate Category
Champion: Medal + Trophy
Runner-up to 8th Place: Medal
Bowl Category
Champion: Medal + Trophy
Runner-up to 8th Place: Medal
The prizes were presented by MBI Chief Whip Dato' Mazlan Abdul Rahman, representing the Mayor of Ipoh.
Also present at the prize-giving ceremony were MBI Public Works Director Azman Mohd Harun and KSDBI President Ridzauddin Mohd Radzi.
Meanwhile, Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah personally attended the first day of the tournament to observe the ongoing matches.
The Anak Rimau team emerged as champions after defeating the defending champions, Akademi Wira Muda.
The Highlanders U16 were crowned champions after defeating the MBI Anderson combined team in a penalty shootout.
Hopefully, this championship will continue to be an important platform for identifying and developing young football talents, as well as producing national and international level athletes in the future.- Hits: 572
