COUNCILLORS’ TURPA (TURUN PADANG) PROGRAMME TO EVERY RAMADAN BAZAAR IN THEIR RESPECTIVE ZONES
10 March 2025 - Ipoh City Council has conducted the Turpa (Going Down To The Ground) programme for Councillors to visit every Ramadan Bazaar in their respective zones. At the event, the Councillors will present aprons and caps to the licensees. Wearing a complete apron and cap is a basic requirement that must be complied with by all food handlers, in addition to other basic requirements such as getting an anti-typhoid injection & a food handler course certificate.
The Turpa programme at the Taman Tasek Indra and Silibin Ramadan Bazaars today was officiated by Bercham Assemblyman Ong Boon Piow, Kg Baru Bercham Head Clr Ng Haen Vee, Loh Kwek Choon, and was also attended by MBI City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak.
The event began with a symbolic handing over of caps and aprons to the traders, followed by the distribution of food containers to bazaar visitors in conjunction with the MBI Eco-Friendly Ramadan Bazaar concept.
Hopefully, the Ramadan Bazaar traders can conduct their business and practice good food handling ethics in this holy month of Ramadan.
