MBI PROPOSES TO DEVELOP COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGIC PLAN FOR DISASTER PLANNING AND PREPAREDNESS IN COLLABORATION WITH NADMA
IPOH, 31 OCTOBER 2025 – Ipoh City Council (MBI) proposes to develop a comprehensive Strategic Plan for Disaster Planning and Preparedness for Ipoh city in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) Malaysia.
This initiative will become the basis for the development of a more disaster-resilient, systematic and sustainable city, in line with the goal of making Ipoh a safe and resilient city against disaster risks, and aligns with the National Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Policy.
Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah said this in his welcoming speech during the Dinner Reception to honour the delegation from NADMA Malaysia’s Disaster Planning & Preparedness Division at the Ipoh Convention Centre tonight.
According to him, this strategic collaboration is an important step in strengthening the city’s preparedness against both natural and man-made disasters.
“Ipoh City Council is very delighted to receive the official visit from NADMA delegation. It is hoped that more joint programmes and collaborations can be held in Ipoh in the future, which will not only benefit disaster management aspects but also boost the local tourism and economic sectors,” he said.
The NADMA delegation was led by Disaster Planning & Preparedness Division Deputy Director-General (Policy) Ahmad Rajiun Abu Bakar, representing the NADMA Malaysia Director-General, together with senior officers from the agency.
The function, held in a friendly and harmonious atmosphere, also featured a mingling session and dinner to strengthen bilateral relations between MBI and NADMA.
This collaboration is hoped to strengthen the strategic network between the local government and the national disaster management agency, thus ensuring that Ipoh City is always prepared to face any possible disaster in the future.
