BRIDGE SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMME 2025: MAYOR OF IPOH FETES JUNIOR STUDENT AMBASSADORS TO FUKUOKA, JAPAN
IPOH, 9 JULY 2025 – Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah attended the Pre-Screening Ceremony and officiated the Presentation of Participation Certificates to four primary school students selected to represent Ipoh City at the BRIDGE Summer Camp 2025 in Fukuoka, Japan to be held from 12 to 21 July 2025.
Also present to enliven the event were City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak, Principal Assistant Director (Student Affairs) Fakrul Nizam Pakhruddin, representing Perak Education Department Director, Student Affairs Assistant Director and Programme Accompanying Officer Wan Mohd Hazihan Wan Husain, Politeknik Ungku Omar Japanese Language Lecturer Anita Hanim Taharim, and MBI Department Heads.
The four students selected as Junior Ambassadors are:
1) Muhamad Azim Zuhri Syith (SK St. Michael),
2) Arissa Safiya Mohd. Syazlan (SK Tambun),
3) Kimberly Ng (SJKC Ave Maria Convent), and
4) Arjun Siddhaarth a/l Theebenraj (SJKT Gunung Rapat).
They will be accompanied by Wan Mohd Hazihan Wan Husain and Dee Dee Xin Tong, a Universiti Malaya Law student and a former BRIDGE Junior Ambassador in 2015, now rejoining the programme as a Peace Ambassador.
This programme is an international educational platform organised by the Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC), bringing together students from 61 countries and regions. Since 1989, Fukuoka city, Japan has been the main host of this programme, aimed at fostering the spirit of "Omoyari" — the values of mutual respect, empathy and willingness to embrace cultural differences in the pursuit of global peace and understanding.
The BRIDGE Club, established in 1998, is a network of alumni from the APCC programme that continues to actively promote the values of Omoyari and cross-national friendships.
Since 2001, the Ipoh City Council (MBI), in collaboration with the Perak Education Department, has sent more than 200 primary school students to this programme, as a continued commitment to developing a globally competitive and harmonious young generation.- Hits: 861
