MADANI GOTONG-ROYONG PROGRAMME 2025: COMMUNITY COLLABORATION AT SMK DR. MEGAT KHAS

IPOH, 26 JULY 2025 – The MADANI Gotong-Royong Programme 2025, organised by SMK Dr. Megat Khas, was held with great enthusiasm this morning with active participation from the school staff, local community and representatives of external agencies. The opening ceremony was officiated by MBI Councillor for Buntong Zone Clr. Lawrence a/l Palanisamy at the school compound.

In his speech, Clr. Lawrence extended appreciation to the school, especially Principal Noranida Ahmad, for the invitation and efforts in making the Malaysia MADANI themed programme a success. He also expressed his pride in the school's commitment in instilling noble values via the gotong-royong approach involving students, teachers, parents and the community.

"A gotong-royong programme like this is not just about physical cleaning, but also reflects MADANI values, such as cooperation, compassion, mutual respect and shared responsibility," he said in his opening speech.

He added that the Ipoh City Council (MBI) always supports community-based programmes like this, especially in the Buntong Zone, which is rich in neighbourliness and social potential. Clr. Lawrence also suggested that such programmes be made an annual event and expanded to surrounding residential areas and public spaces.

The programme included activities such as school compound cleaning, tree planting and environmental awareness talks. It also received cooperation from local agencies and strong support from the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG).

The MADANI Gotong-Royong Programme 2025 has not only succeeded in brightening the school surroundings but also instilled a spirit of unity and a sense of responsibility among the staff and students of SMK Dr. Megat Khas, and the surrounding community.
