NATIONAL-LEVEL NATIONAL SPORTS DAY (HSN) 2025 CELEBRATION
IPOH, 11 OCTOBER 2025 – The National-Level National Sports Day (HSN) 2025 Celebration held today made history, when for the first time, the national-level event was held outside the Klang Valley, with Ipoh City chosen as the official host.
This historic step reflects the government's commitment to expanding and popularising the sports culture among communities nationwide, in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration, which emphasises people’s well-being, unity and a healthy lifestyle.
The HSN 2025 opening ceremony was officiated by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and accompanied by various interesting events, including fitness activities, sports competitions and community programmes involving thousands of participants from various walks of life.
Also present to enliven the celebration were Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dato' Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Inspector-General of Police Dato' Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail, Perak State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, Perak State Legal Advisor Dato' Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, JPM ICU Director-General Datuk Seri Sollehuddin Alyubi Zakaria, and National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN) Director-General Azura Abidin.
Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah was also present to accompany the Chief Secretary to the Government as the official escort officer throughout the event, besides greeting the participants and distinguished guests present.
After the event, the Mayor of Ipoh attended a programme at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Seri Iskandar, in conjunction with a Public Lecture titled “Universities as Strategic Assets: Planning Malaysia’s Future through Talent, Technology and Transformation”, as well as the Launch Ceremony of the Largest Single-Roof Solar Panel in Malaysia, a collaboration between UTP and Gentari.
This initiative symbolises the country’s commitment to the green energy and sustainability agenda, while also providing opportunities for students to interact directly with the country’s top leadership. It thus strengthens the role of higher education institutions as catalysts for innovation, sustainable development and Malaysia’s future progress.
