SULTAN NAZRIN BIRTHDAY RUN HELD IN JOYOUS SPIRIT
KUALA KANGSAR, 16 NOVEMBER 2025 – Light rain and cloudy weather did not dampen the lively atmosphere of the Sultan Nazrin Shah Birthday Run 2025 with the participation of more than 9,500 runners.
Participants of various ages arrived as early as 5.00 am, with some of them drawing attention by appearing in anime costumes, traditional attire, school uniforms and the character Husin from the film Hantu Kak Limah.
The joyous occasion was further enlivened by the presence of HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and HRH Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, who consented to grace this prestigious event.
Also present was HH Raja Di Hilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.
Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, together with the State Government leadership were also in attendance. Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah was also present in support of this fitness and unity programme.
HRH Sultan of Perak flagged off the 5,000 participants in the 15-kilometre category and 4,500 participants in the 10-kilometre and 7-kilometre runs.
Next, the flag-off for the VIP Category participants was performed by HH Raja Dato' Seri Yong Sofia Sultan Azlan Shah, involving VIP Category A (route to Dataran Kota Lama Kanan) and VIP Category B (route to Laman Budaya).
His Royal Highness then spent about 20 minutes with the people at Laman Budaya, witnessing demonstrations and asset exhibitions by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (Maritim Malaysia) and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) booth.
Various exhibitions and performances were held along the race route, involving villages in Mukim Sayong, Kota Lama Kanan and the Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah Bridge.
Among them were traditional games such as gasing (top-spinning) and sepak raga, demonstration of labu sayong crafting, performances of rebana drum, Chinese and Indian drums, as well as local delicacy stalls.
