YB TUAN NGA KOR MING, MINISTER OF HOUSING AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT (KPKT), HAS HELD A VISIT TO THE FLOOD DISASTER AREA AT ARENA KEPAYANG PUTRA, NEAR FAIR PARK IPOH
5 December 2024: YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), visited the flood disaster area at Arena Kepayang Putra, near Fair Park Ipoh this afternoon.
Also present at the field trip program was YB Jenny Choy Tsi Jen, Canning Assemblyman and Deputy Speaker of the Perak State Legislative Assembly, Y.Bhg. Dato' Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud, Mayor of Ipoh and Ir Dr. Asnor Muizan bin Dato' Hj. Ishak, Director of the Perak State Irrigation & Drainage Department and Council Members, Ipoh City Council.
During the visit, the KPKT Minister informed that his ministry had approved an allocation of RM108. 5 million for flood mitigation projects in Sungai Kinta, in Ipoh and Kampar.
According to him, the allocation is aimed at preventing the recurrence of floods at the Kepayang Putra Arena, near Fair Park, and the work to upgrade tires along Sungai Kinta can be implemented as prevention and a long-term solution to deal with the risk of flooding due to increasingly serious climate change.
In conjunction with the visit, he also delivered mattresses to the residents affected by the disaster.
Last Sunday, the residential area at the Kepayang Putra Arena was reported for the first time in history to be flooded with water up to a height of about 1.5 meters as a result of the overflow of the Sungai Kinta.
