9 IPOH STUDENTS JOIN STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMME TO MEDAN CITY
IPOH, 21 JUNE – A total of 9 students from several secondary schools around Ipoh, aged between 16 and 18, have been selected to participate in the Ipoh City – Medan Student Exchange Programme to be held from 23 June to 29 June 2025.
The ceremony for the presentation of certificates and programme briefing for the selected students was held at the VIP Room, UTC Perak. The event was officiated by Urban Community Director Romzi Zamri, who also gave a short speech and briefing on the objectives and guidelines of the programme.
The participating students comprise 7 boys and 2 girls, and they will be accompanied by two chaperones from MBI.
The students will stay with specially selected host families to provide direct cultural experience and foster cross-border family values.
This programme is organised as an initiative to strengthen the close relationship between the two cities, Ipoh and Medan, which have cooperated as sister cities since 2009. The implementation of this programme is carried out in collaboration with the Ipoh City Council and the Medan Mayor's Office, which acts as the main coordinator in both countries.
According to Romzi, “This programme not only offers students the opportunity to gain international experience but also broadens their perspectives on foreign cultures and lifestyles. Hopefully, it will create a long-term network of connections between the young generations of both cities.”
