TOWARDS PRODUCING QUALITY MBI PORTAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS WRITING
CAMERON HIGHLANDS, 14 NOVEMBER 2025 – In an effort to produce quality portal and social media news writing, Ipoh City Council (MBI) organised a three-day Portal and Social Media News Writing Course from 12 to 14 November 2025.
A total of 23 MBI officers and staff participated in the course, representing various departments, including Management Services, Community Services, Treasury, Enforcement, Development Control, Parks and Landscape, Integrity and One-Stop Centre (OSC).
The course aimed to improve the capabilities and skills of MBI officers and staff in news writing, portal and social media management, in line with the demands of today’s digital communication. It also emphasised journalistic ethics, effective writing techniques and the use of modern technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Mobile Journalism (MOJO) in the delivery of information.
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in various interactive sessions and practical exercises, such as Basic News Writing Workshop, Writing Ethics and Law, Media Conference Simulation/MOJO Programme, as well as Portal, Social Media and AI Writing. The programme also stressed on the importance of accurate, fast and ethical dissemination of information to strengthen MBI’s role as a local authority that is transparent, people-friendly and responsive to current developments.
The course was facilitated by two experienced speakers, namely Sinar Harian Perak Bureau Chief Saifullah Ahmad and Malaysia Gazette Perak Editor Mohamad Hafizi Mohd Said.
The closing ceremony was officiated by MBI Management Services Director Normala Latiff, representing Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah.
Through the organisation of this course, MBI hopes to strengthen corporate communication capabilities and enhance the delivery of high-impact information to the residents of Ipoh City via various digital and social media platforms.- Hits: 271
